In Philadelphia, USA had founded it in purpose of education for women on advice of Nitobe Inazo. The School is still the only Friends' educational organisation in Japan. Whilst all the pupils are not Friends similar to many other religious schools in Japan, they get education of Quakerism including Inner light.

The School says that the name in Japanese, or 普連土, means "universal connection with all the global places" under an idea of Tsuda Sen who is the father of Tsuda Umeko, the founder of Tsuda College.
